A review of The Winnicott Centre by Anonymous written on Wednesday 12th of August 2020
The Winnicott Centre is not a new service provider to me. However, expect delays in everything! From responses from case workers or Doctors, to reports ( I waited five months and had to go through PALS to get one started after that for one), up to now, 8 months waiting list on the ASD screening services. Initially, two of my children were failed through delays to identify needs with these guys; the first saying 'nothing wrong with him, possibly ODD, but nothing really, and sent away.10 years later he was back, assessed, slow processing speeds, SLCN and probably ASD ( COVID -19 got in the way of the diagnosis appointment). My other child was sent away as nothing wring with him, and told I had to praise the positives - and didn't like when I asked for him to be seen again - and I am thankful I pushed for that because my child has ASD, ADHD, SPD, anxiety and was displaying school based anxiety through unmet needs - so, you have to push, you have to be clear, and you have to chase up EVERYTHING. I have now been waiting over 12 months for a SaLT referral and a CBT referral. Another child has been waiting for 8 months for his ASD assessment to start, no family history taken, nothing. On a plus, the staff are generally nice, except one receptionist who is above her station and does it in such a way that is not person centred - unless her own centre..
