A review of Mono Pumps Ltd by John turner written on Wednesday 23rd of January 2013
Hi! everyone.
My name is John Turner.
I started work at Mono Pumps in the drawing office in the London office. It was 1956 and I had just turned 16.
I did drawings of the pumps and designed assemblies for customers requirements.
It was a great place to work. Friendly people and always a laugh or two. We played chess in the lunch hour, or sat around and read a book.
The chief dratsman was Mr. Edlin, a great guy.
I was sent up to the Manchester plant once a year and watched the pumps being made and being assembled. It was quite interesting for a young lad at that time.
The guy that I was "apprenticed" to was called Ginger, a very funny and interesting guy.
I lodged at a house in Ashton with a Mrs Milner.
I worked at Mono for just over 9 years and regretted leaving there.
It was a great place to get going in the work force, and I think about the people a lot.
I now live in Canada, 41 years now..
