A review of Haveley Hey Primary School by Anon written on Tuesday 13th of November 2012
Those long remembered days at Haveley are filled with such joy and warm memories. Mr Donohue was the Headmaster at the time (1976-7)and I remember a lot of the other staff, Mrs Cunningham was the School Secretary, Mrs Wells, Mrs Fannon, Mr Finn, Mr Cleary, Mrs Marsh, Mr Oldham, Mr Wardle, Mrs Whitworth, Miss Johnson, Mrs Ward (apologies to those I have missed!) I also remember Miss Warpole, who became Mrs Kirk in the "juniors"! You all obviously made an impression!! How I loved the hot summers when we moved our desks out to the playing fields where we could work in the sunshine and the Christmas parties and school plays were something to look forward to - so special. We also had an excellent football and netball team and the school choir came 2nd in the Manchester Finals with their production of Joseph and his Amazing Technicoloured Dreamcoat! The teachers were respected and highly thought of by pupils and parents alike and they did an excellent job of tutoring and supporting each child and making lessons interesting so we were eager to learn. Thanks for the great start and for helping my sister and I achieve our goals. Lovely school, lovely people! xx.
